Beemer’s Volunteer Fire Department made use of a perfect day Sunday for a practice burn. Firemen set an hold house on fire at the farm place of the late Marcella Belling, located on County Road 15, about 3.5 miles from Beemer. Basic fire practice, including entering a burning house, was conducted during the controlled burn.

Seventy-seven years ago Eddie Doescher took a chance and sold the only vehicle he owned and bought a truck. It marked the beginning of Doescher Transfer Company, located in Beemer.
Doescher’s family acknowledges that his initial investment proved to be a good one.

Lance Parsons searched for several years to find where his father was buried. He had lost contact with him through the years and knew he had died.
At about the same time as he was searching, Lance was also doing work on a directory for Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point.

It wasn’t by chance, but rather hard work and dedication that Bluejay senior Emily Petz evolved into a star sprinter.
It was also her love for the sport that allowed Petz to place a giant exclamation mark on her Central Catholic track career with four medals in four events at the 2013 state track and field meet held this past weekend at Omaha Burke.

William Vyborny, Jr. - February 27, 2013
Funeral services for William L. Vyborny, Jr., age 79 of Beemer, were Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pilger. Masonic rites were held during the service at the church. Interment was in the Pilger Cemetery.Bill died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Wisner Care Center.
Survivors include son, Don Vyborny and Bonnie of Defiance, Ohio and family Amy and Doug Paulsen and children JaShaun Vyborny and Savannah Paulsen; Shaun and Brigette Vyborny and children Brennan and Amelié; son, Ron and Becky Vyborny of Wisner and son Eric Vyborny; daughter Kris and Bob Lueninhoener of Stanton and family Adam Lueninghoener and Stephanie and daughter Haleigh; step-children Lacy & Joslynn, Matthew Lueninghoener and Priscilla; and sister Marcella Frerichs of Norfolk.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
