Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Funeral services for Virginia Geu, 77, Aurora were held Feb. 15, at the Messiah Lutheran Church with interment at the Aurora Cemetery. Virginia passed away in Aurora on Feb. 11, 2013.Those who remain to cherish her memory are three sons: Charles and his wife, Anne, Davenport, FL; David and his wife, Cindy, Colorado Spring, CO and Thomas and his wife, Nancy, San Marcos, CA; three daughters: Teresa Haack and her husband, Dale, Madison; Janet Warner and her husband, Chuck, Catroville, TX and Susan Margritz and her husband, Pat, Lexington; two sisters, Marianne (George) Schweers, Alamogordo, NM and Delores Schultz, Sun City, CA; two brothers, William Schultz, Omaha and Richard “Jake” (Stephanie) Schultz, Eureka, CA; brother-in-law, Elmer Geu, Columbus; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and special nieces, nephews and friends.
