West Point area residents will have a choice as to where they want to give blood this month locally, as the American Red Cross has scheduled two blood drives in West Point, and both on the same day — Wednesday, Dec. 18.
West Point-Beemer High School’s Student Council will hold its annual blood drive that day from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Also that day, a blood drive is being held at Valmont Coatings - West Point Galvanizing, from noon until 6 p.m.
Those wanting to make an appointment to donate at either drive can call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org.
“While the need for blood is ongoing, the supply isn’t – especially around the holidays,” said Tricia Quinn, CEO of the Red Cross Midwest Blood Services Region. “Long holiday weekends pose an extra challenge when many donors are traveling to be with family and friends. Without the generosity of volunteer blood donors, we would not be able to ensure a stable blood supply for patients.”
