When West Point Trinity Church, Beemer United Methodist Church and Wisner UMCC merged and formed Faith Fellowship Parish, it was a good fit.
The two ministers, Pastors Les Parmenter and Coral Eberly, are hoping that they are also a good fit in the area and with Faith Fellowship Parish.
Pastor Parmenter will serve Trinity in West Point, and his wife, Pastor Eberly, will serve Wisner UMCC. They will share the duties for Beemer United Methodist.
Pastor Parmenter came to Faith Fellowship after serving for 8 1/2 years at United Church of Christ in Crofton. Before that he was at Faith United Church of Christ at Bayard for 2 1/2 years.
“Coral’s and my paths are different,” he said. “We didn’t go to the seminary. We studied religion and philosophy through the Education of Lay Ministries (ELM).”
Parmenter had worked in many careers before he “rededicated” his life.
“It wasn’t possible for me to attend the seminary,” he said.
It helped that he loves reading and studying scripture.
Les and Coral are both licensed pastors and Les is on his way to being ordained.
When he isn’t at one of the churches or reading, Les enjoys cooking, flower gardening and baseball.
Coral’s story of becoming a minister is similar to Les’ in many ways. She is also a graduate of ELM.
Her interest was Old and New Testament interpretation.
After a successful career in banking, she “fell in love again with learning.”
